Description of the program:

GetSolar is a scientifically developed and practically proved PC-software for the simulation of solar thermal systems.

GetSolar offers many different functions:

• Quick simulation of both solar domestic hot water systems and solar combi systems;
• Eco-Balance of energy and CO₂-savings;
• NEW: Simulation of East-West-collectors;
• Irradiation- and temperature-generator WetSyn
• Simple user interface
• Online-Help (sorry, Helpfile still in German language);
• Presentation of results in tables and graphics;
  simple forwarding of the results to other software (e.g. word processor, spreadsheet calculation) via Windows clipboard;
• Solar climate database with over 180 location in Germany and other European countries;
  more locations can be easily added - the database needs only the monthly average values for irradiation and temperature;
• Collector database;
• Edit mask for shading effects;
• different calculation forms, e.g. for the dimensioning of solar circuit expansion vessels.

GetSolar calculates all relevant parameters - position of the sun, irradiation, ambient temperature, collector efficiency, heat losses etc. and the resulting energy flows and component temperatures - in up to 131,400 time steps per year. The simulation uses hourly values for direct and diffuse irradiation and ambient temperture generated by the WetSyn climate processor.

The program does not afford deep computer knowledge. The functioning of GetSolar supports the quick solving of dimensioning problems and offers solar know-how for the educaction of solar beginners as well as for customer advisory service in professional environment.
